I work as a gastroenterology doctor (seeing patients with any tummy problems) 👍

I really love it because I get to see people of all ages and backgrounds, including young people with medical conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, and older people with medical problems with cancer of different parts of the tummy.

I really enjoy seeing patients and working to help get them feel better – both working as a doctor and as a researcher!

I am a paediatrician so I look after sick children when I am not doing my research. I love it because one minute I might be looking after a tiny baby who can’t breathe properly and the next I might be looking after a 16yr old with a football injury who is bigger than me – I see such a variety of different people that there is never a dull moment! Being a children’s doctor means having to learn how to communicate with a lot of different people – how I talk to a 2 year old will be very different to how I talk to a worried parents for example so it really tests those talking skills. All in all, I feel very lucky to work in the job I do.
