Andrea Kusec answered on 6 Mar 2020:
I love how flexible the hours are – I am not a morning person in any way, so a job that lets me work when I want to work is the best. But I also really love talking to patients – usually after meeting with patients, I have so many new questions that I want to test out in the lab, and then feedback what I learned to patients. It’s a great feeling!

I really enjoy that I get to try lots of new things! Everyday is slightly different, and it is a very cool feeling knowing that you could be the first person to discover a new fact, or that your work could make people feel better one day!

There are a lot of things I really like about my job. My favourite thing is that I work on something I enjoy and something that I think will make a contribution to society and to patients. I like that I have flexible hours and that I can work in my own rhythm. I also enjoy working with the people from my lab, who are all nerds and we can all get excited about science and share that together.

I love that I get to learn about the latest discoveries in all sorts of different areas of medical research and not just focus on one. Plus I get to share those discovery stories through videos, podcasts, writing and more, and I love being creative so that is all great for me

I think the main thing I enjoy is getting to meet and talk to so many new people about science. There is a lot of opportunity to travel the world to meet people with similar interests. I also love visiting schools and exploring scientific ideas with the students 🙂
