I think “intense” is a little difficult to define. There are far more cases of seasonal fluevery year than coronavirus. However, flu has been studied for so long that it is easy to predict how it behaves. The problem with COVID-19 is that it is a very new virus and we know nothing about it. It does seem however that it is slightly more dangerous than flu considering its mortality rate.
