Without a doubt, it is the variety that is the best bit for me. No two days are ever the same. In paediatrics my patients range from tiny preterm babies I could hold in the palm of my hand to 16yr old rugby players who are bigger than me. I have seen diseases that can affect any area of the body. I look after children who are just a little bit poorly and able to go home to those who are critically unwell and need to go to intensive care. One minute I might be trying to convince a 2yr old to let me look in their ears and the next I might be explaining sad news to a parent. I am also very lucky to be able to combine my science research with being a doctor – so some days I might be in the hospital and other days I might be working on my research.

Seeing patients is the best part of my day and working with them to help get them feel better 👍
