Yes! I use maths to model the changes in the airways that occur over time in people with severe asthma. For these people, each time they have an asthma attack their airways gradually thicken therefore giving less space to breathe through! This means that they might struggle to catch their breath just walking up a set of stairs. Finding out why this is happening could help us find a way to help them (since unlike most asthmatics, inhalers don’t help them).
So yes! This is one of my plans in my research. I want to look how lung diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (which is caused by smoking).
My research will look at a type of new treatment that is being developed for these diseases. I am looking at how they work and what they do because we dont know a lot about them
