We don’t know for sure, but it looks like it originally came from bats, then probably spread from animals to people at a live animal market in Wuhan in China.
I’m updating my answer (18th) March: this is less certain than I suggested previously – the novel coronavirus is similar to a virus that infects bats, so it may have come from bats. But there’s still more research to be done on this.
I have no clue but I imagine its a study product that spread from bats and mice which are study products , and human consume or thus bats escape and infect man

Amadou, I’m not sure what you mean by study product? Novel coronavirus is a virus.
