Try lots of methods and see what works for you! I like flashcards but I have friends who revise using mindmaps or by recording themselves reading their notes!

Try thinking of the bigger picture – it’s easy to get lost in the details and forget how all of what you learn in a science subject (like biology) fits together. I really like mindmapping for this, but I know others have tried to create songs out of the materials, using practice quizzes, or trying to teach the topic to someone else.

I think for me posters helped! I would condense down an entire topic to a page and I realised how there were themes I needed to know. I also recommend acronyms!

Really good question 👍 I think different things work for different people – I find using pictures helps me understand a bit more about what is going on – so try and have notes where I have a mindmap or picture in between to summarise key points!

I always found that using flashcards with lots of colour and having regular breaks helped me!

Whenever I was revising, I used to colour code all my notes, so that when I read it the second or third time, I’d only read the most important bits. Also, I used to write 3 or 4 key words next to each paragraph, so I remembered the most important thing being discussed. And don’t be afraid to ask questions! It’s so much easier to learn when someone is explaining the concepts to you than when you’re just trying to make sense of them from a book.

I’ve always been a note taker. Advise my mom always gave that worked was study all the material three times. By the third time you’ll have it totally memorised and understood.

I found revision guides really helpful – if you use one, find one that you like, that makes sense to you and that you like the sense of humour!

I would also avoid spending too much time on topics that you find easy or you already know – instead focus on revising the stuff you don’t know or that you find difficult.

I always found that writing everything down over and over again helped me. And then over time I would slowly condense it down and down onto flash cards as I then could remember all the associated info with it. Get people to test you on things, don’t always just read or write – saying things out loud helps.
Colour coding and mind maps also helped me

Colour coding and thinking of acronyms or songs has always helped me 🙂

People all learn differently – I’m a person who needs to write and re-write lots of notes with diagrams to help me. I have other friends who work well with pictures or mind maps or recording their notes.
