I do – some of the people I work with have resected brain tumours. This means that when doctors found a tumour on someone’s brain scan they cut it out of the brain during surgery. It’s very difficult to cut out a tumour without removing some of the brain tissue, so often people are left with a variety of difficulties. For example, one patient I work with had a tumour removed from his occipital lobe (the part of his brain that controls vision). He now has left neglect – he cannot see the left side of his world. His eyes are fine, it’s just how his brain processes visual information is now different!
