About Me:
I am a hospital doctor studying in London for a PhD (to become a double doctor) π©Ί
I work on “personalised medicine” clinical trials and am trying to understand how we can help improve care and quality life for each individual person from clinical trials πββοΈπββοΈ

I live and study in London but also travel a lot to and from Cambridge – so spend a lot of time listening to Spotify on the train π΅Β
I work and learn about clinical trials every day. Clinical trials are great for improving health care for people who get medical conditions, but usually treat everybody in the same way. I want to show that this “one-size-fits-all” approach can probably be improvedΒ πββοΈπββοΈ
I like to play football β½οΈ and πΎ in my free time and chillout with friends to relax away from work. I’m a bit of a movie-geek and love going to the cinema π₯ποΈ

I study in London, with a super team π¦ΈββοΈπ¦Ή learning about clinical trials and how to make them quicker and better – so that people can benefit from treatments earlier and have better health and quality of life ππ
I also work part of my time in Cambridge, with another super team π¦ΈββοΈπ¦Ή on a clinical trial (the PROFILE trial) for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This is a condition which typically affects teenagers and young adults and can cause lots of bowel symptoms, which can be embarrassing and significantly affect their quality of life.Β
I work as the doctor for this trial to help “personalise” treatment – and we hope to show that by treating every person as an individual leads to better healthcare rather than treating everybody in exactly the same way ππ

My Typical Day:
Every day is a bit different which is why I love doing research ππ
I might get up about 7 o’clock and then cycle to work π΄ββοΈ Then at work I might typically collect lots of information about newer, cooler and clinical trials and start making cool tables and graphs to present this work ππ Followed by interviews with patients or doctors taking part in clinical trials πββοΈπββοΈ
Then catch up with my friends and colleagues from work over lunch and then in the afternoon have teleconference meeting with people in America also working with me on this project. At the end of the day, I meet up with my supervisors to discuss about what I’ve found and they ask really cool questions about what to do next β
Then usually chill out in the evening and have a break from work before going again for the next day!

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would use the prize money to give to patients taking part in clinical trials, I would do short interviews and want to find out more about their experiences of taking part in a clinical trial – so that other people could find out more about what this involves πββοΈπββοΈ
